A Moment of Pride — A Gentle Beginning

“Healing often begins in the smallest moments of kindness.”

ree

When we’ve lived with years of body discomfort, it can feel almost impossible to remember a time when our bodies felt like something to be proud of. But healing doesn’t always come in big leaps. Often, it starts with the quiet, subtle moments—when we pause, soften, or catch a glimpse of our body as a source of comfort or strength.

This part of the journey invites you to notice those small moments. Not the grand achievements, but the everyday experiences where your body was there for you—steady, patient, and holding you through whatever came your way.

Even the tiniest feeling of pride or gratitude can be a seed that grows into something more.

🌑 Journal Prompts

  1. Can you recall a small moment when you felt your body supporting you?

It might be a gentle stretch after waking, a moment of warmth from a hug, or simply feeling your feet on the ground. Describe that moment with kindness.

  2. What is one thing your body did recently that you feel grateful for?

Maybe it’s walking, breathing deeply, or even carrying you through a tough day. Write about it as if you’re speaking to a trusted friend.

  3. When you think about your body right now, can you find a part that feels neutral or even a little kind?

It might be your hands, your eyes, or your heart beating. Take a few breaths to connect with that part.

  4. What small practice or choice might help you nurture this feeling of gentle pride or gratitude?

Perhaps a moment of rest, a favorite cozy sweater, or a soothing cup of tea.

🌿 A Gentle Mindfulness Practice

Find a quiet space where you feel safe and comfortable. Sit or lie down, and close your eyes if you like.

Take a deep breath in… and slowly breathe out.

Now, gently bring your attention to your body. Notice how it feels right now—noticing any areas of tension, softness, warmth, or coolness. There is no need to change anything, just observe.

Place a hand lightly over your heart or wherever feels comforting.

As you breathe, silently say to yourself:

“Thank you for carrying me. I see you. I am here with you.”

Breathe in kindness, breathe out tension.

Stay here for a few moments, gently resting in this quiet connection.

When you’re ready, slowly open your eyes.

This work is about planting tiny seeds of kindness toward your body. It’s not about forcing love or ignoring pain—but about making space for compassion, however small it may feel. Over time, these seeds can grow, gently changing the way you see and hold yourself.

Today, if you’re willing, try to notice one quiet moment when your body feels like an ally instead of an adversary. That small moment is a beginning—and beginnings are sacred.

🌿Blessed Be,
