Rebuilding My Rhythm Slowly

The past month has been full in the best way. Our oldest daughter, our son‑in‑law, and two of our grandkids stayed with us for two weeks, dogs and all. The house felt alive, loud, busy, and overflowing with little footsteps, conversations, and the kind of everyday chaos you don’t realize you’ve missed until it’s right in front of you.

We packed a lot into their visit. On the Fourth of July, we had a big get‑together with all of our children and grandchildren. It was hot, but beautiful, and it felt good to have everyone together in one place. The weekend after the Fourth, my parents came to visit too, which made the time feel even more special: three generations under one roof, something that doesn’t happen often.
We ate so many good meals thanks to my son‑in‑law’s cooking. We went to one of our grandson’s birthday parties. And we took a trip to Gettysburg. Our oldest and middle daughters had gone years ago with their school in eighth grade, but this was the first time the rest of us had seen it. The kids loved it. It was a lot for me to do in one day, but I’m glad I went. I’d love to go back for a long weekend and take it all in slowly.
There were quieter days too days of just playing, being silly, and enjoying the simple moments that show up when you’re not rushing anywhere. One afternoon, my husband took everyone on a nature hike. I stayed home and used the quiet to mow the lawn and wander through a garden center. It felt good to breathe for a minute and move at my own pace while the house was still.
These visits mean a lot. We don’t get to see them often, with my son‑in‑law being in the Army and moving every two to three years. New York, Washington, New York again, and now Louisiana until next year. After that, we have no idea where they’ll go. That uncertainty makes the time we do get feel even more precious.
When they left, the quiet settled in fast. The house felt bigger. The days felt a little bit slower. And even though I needed the space, it took me a couple of weeks to find myself again, to remember my routine, to reconnect with the things I paused, and to settle back into the rhythm I’m used to.
I’m not rushing it. I’m rebuilding my rhythm slowly, letting my days fall back into place one at a time. Today feels like the first day where I’m finally easing back into writing, creating, and tending to the parts of my life that need my attention.
I’m here again, moving gently and finding my way forward.
As I ease back into my routine, I’ll also continue researching new products to add to the shop. If you have any suggestions or ideas for things you’d love to see, don’t hesitate to mention them in the comments or message me. I truly enjoy hearing what resonates with you.
And if you’d like to support this dream as it continues to grow, you can explore the shop or help fuel the magick behind Root & Rising. Every order, kind word, share, and bit of support helps bring this vision to life one intentional step at a time.
Rooted, curious, and learning every step,
Bobbi Ann
