As we continue our slow journey through the tarot, this week brings us face-to-face with The High Priestess—card II in the Major Arcana. After The Magician taught us about the power of action and tools, The High Priestess gently calls us inward, into the quiet wisdom of intuition.
What I’m Learning About The High Priestess

In the artwork by Giovanni Caselli, The High Priestess sits calmly between two pillars—one dark, one light. She wears flowing blue robes and a crescent-shaped crown, connecting her to the Moon and feminine wisdom. In her lap, she gently holds a small bunch of flowers—simple, delicate, and symbolic of purity and peace. Behind her hangs a richly patterned veil of pomegranates, and just beyond that, a body of water shimmers softly.
There’s a feeling of stillness in this card, like time has slowed down. She’s not speaking—she’s listening. Not revealing—just being. She feels like the space between breaths.
What I'm Learning
According to the guidebook, The High Priestess symbolizes:
🌙 Intuition and inner knowing
🌙 Mystery and sacred silence
🌙 Receptivity and reflection
🌙 The feminine spiritual path
This isn’t a card of action—it’s a card of trust. She’s a reminder that answers don’t always come through doing or searching, but through allowing.
Upright vs. Reversed
If you read reversals, The High Priestess reversed might suggest ignoring your intuition, struggling to trust your inner voice, or feeling disconnected from your spiritual self.
Since I’m still learning, I continue to read my cards upright. It helps me build a grounded understanding before diving deeper into more layered interpretations.
Reflections
When I spent time with this card, it asked me to slow down.
🕯 What quiet truth am I not listening to?
🕯 Where in my life do I need more stillness?
🕯 Am I honoring my inner voice—or brushing past it?
This card doesn’t demand anything from me. It simply invites me inward, softly and without judgment.
A Gentle Invitation
🌿 Pull The High Priestess from your own deck, or look her up online.
🌿 Sit in silence with her for a few minutes—what do you notice?
🌿 Ask yourself:— What do I sense, just beneath the surface?— How can I make space to hear my inner voice this week?
Blessed Be,
Softly listening beneath the surface,
Bobbi Ann
