The Lovers 💕✨
This week, we’re spending time with The Lovers — a card rich with symbolism, emotion, and meaningful choice. As part of my Tarot With Me series, I’m inviting you to learn right alongside me, one card at a time (well… more on that in a moment 😉).
In the Sharman-Caselli Tarot by Juliet Sharman-Burke, The Lovers card draws inspiration from older decks like the Marseilles tradition. Instead of the Garden of Eden imagery you might expect, this version depicts a man choosing between two women — a direct nod to the themes of choice, desire, and life direction. The card’s roots in the Marseilles tradition remind us that love, while beautiful, often comes hand in hand with pivotal decisions.
One thing I’ve come to love about Sharman-Burke’s deck is how she simplifies and clarifies traditional tarot symbolism. She removes the complex occult layers often found in modern decks and instead brings us into a more accessible, psychological journey. Her Major Arcana cards, including The Lovers, are even presented without numbers — giving us space to reorder and reinterpret their meanings in a way that fits our personal growth path.
Upright Key Meanings:
Love and relationships
Harmony
Values alignment
Passion & connection
Making empowered choices
A promising partnership
Reversed Key Meanings:
Trust issues or emotional disconnection
Broken promises
Difficult decisions
Misalignment in relationships
A lack of intimacy or romance
This card is deeply connected to the number six — a number that holds themes of harmony, balance, and communication. Whether it’s romantic, platonic, or within the self, The Lovers reminds us that our relationships (and the choices we make within them) reflect our truest values.
A Note for the Journey Ahead...
Starting next week, I’ll begin exploring two tarot cards at a time. I’m feeling called to weave the cards together and look at how they speak to one another, offering a fuller, more connected lens to grow through. If you’ve been learning with me week by week, I hope this shift feels just as exciting and nourishing to you, too.
Thank you for walking this tarot path with me.
Feel free to share your reflections, pulls, or thoughts in the comments — I’d love to know how The Lovers has shown up in your life.
🕯️ Blessed Be,
Bobbi Ann
