🌿 Unlearning Shame: Reclaiming My Body With Love

Updated: May 23

There’s no single moment I can point to—no clear memory that explains it all. But what I do know is this: my journey is just beginning.

For so long, I’ve carried quiet, heavy feelings about my body—thoughts that shaped how I showed up in the world, how I dressed, how I moved, even how I spoke. I thought they belonged to me. But with time, I’ve started to understand that many of them never really did.

These thoughts were carved by society, inherited through quiet generational patterns, spoken softly through magazine covers, offhanded comments, and unspoken comparisons. They taught me how to feel about myself without ever asking what I believed to be true.

And now, I’m beginning the slow, intentional work of unlearning. Of untangling. Of remembering who I was before the world told me who to be.

This journey—this gentle rebellion of loving myself fully—is how I come home to my true self. It's how I grow deeper roots into who I am meant to be. And in that rootedness, I know I’ll find the strength to bloom into the life I was always meant to live.

And maybe, just maybe, as I do this work… I help clear the path for others, too. For children, grandchildren, friends, and kindred spirits still trying to feel at home in their own skin.

🍵 Gentle Beginnings: Practices for Rooted Self-Love

If you’re walking this path beside me—tiptoeing into self-love, curious and cautious—you are not alone. Here are some soft, nurturing practices I’m beginning to fold into my days. May they hold you, too.

🌿 Speak to Yourself Like You Would to a Friend

Gently shift your inner voice. If the words wouldn’t comfort someone you love, they don’t belong in your mirror either.

🌸 Body Gratitude Moments

Thank your body for one thing it allowed you to do today—carry groceries, stretch out in bed, or simply breathe deeply.

🕯️ Create a Cozy Sacred Space

A small nook with a candle, a warm drink, and your journal can become a haven. Let it be where you return to yourself, day by day.

🌙 Affirmations That Meet You Where You Are

Start small: “I am learning to love my body,” “I am worthy of care.” Let your voice soften and grow with you.

🍂 Reflect Without Blame

Write down the limiting beliefs you’ve absorbed. Gently ask where they came from—and if you want to keep them. Let go of what no longer belongs.

🤝 Be Held by Community

Surround yourself with those who celebrate your light, even on days it flickers. And if you’ve found your way here, let this be one of those safe places.

🧡 A Note to My Community

I created this space to be a cozy hearth for healing, growth, and curiosity. Whether you’re walking this same path or simply resting beside it for a moment, I see you. I’m honored you’re here. If you feel called, I invite you to share your own thoughts below—your gentle beginnings, your lessons, or just a little hello.

This is a space to grow, reflect, and root down together.

May we be the soft soil where self-love can root and bloom—within us and those who come after us.
Blessed Be,
Bobbi Ann
