🌿 Scented Intentions: Herbal Simmer Pots for Every Mood

There’s something so comforting about a bubbling pot on the stove, filling your home with warmth and scent. As a kitchen witch, one of my favorite ways to blend intention and everyday magic is through herbal simmer pots.

Simmer pots are simple, beautiful, and surprisingly powerful. You combine herbs, fruits, and spices in a pot of water, let them gently simmer, and allow the steam to carry your energy into every corner of your space. It's scent-as-spellwork—and it’s deeply soothing.


🔥 How to Make a Simmer Pot


You’ll need:

  • A small to medium pot (or a tea light warmer)

  • Water (enough to fill your pot about halfway)

  • A mix of herbs, spices, fruits, or peels

  • Your intention

  • Optional: a bay leaf for writing your wish or focus


✨ On the Stove

  1. Add your ingredients to the pot.

  2. Fill with water and set on a low simmer.

  3. As the scent rises, take a few deep breaths and focus on your intention.

  4. Whisper a word or affirmation to the steam.

  5. Let it simmer for as long as you like (just don’t leave it unattended).


🕯 On a Tea Light Warmer (or Candle Warmer)

If you don’t want to use your stove or you're working in a small space, you can absolutely use a tea light warmer like I do!

  1. Use a small simmer dish or heat-safe bowl that fits your warmer.

  2. Add your herbs, water, and any intention-setting elements (like a bay leaf).

  3. Place on the warmer and light the tea light underneath.

  4. The scent will rise gently over time, just like a mini cauldron spell.


This method is perfect for subtle, long-lasting magic that slowly fills your space.


🌸 Simmer Pot Recipes by Intention


☁️ Calm & Clarity

  • Lemon slices

  • Fresh rosemary sprigs

  • Dried lavender buds

  • Sage leaves or a pinch of white sage (ethically sourced)

    Affirmation: “I breathe in calm. I breathe out the clutter.”


🌞 Joy & Uplift

  • Orange peels

  • Cinnamon stick

  • Whole cloves

  • A few rose petals or a splash of vanilla

    Affirmation: “Joy finds me with ease. I welcome warmth and light.”


💗 Love & Self-Love

  • Apple slices

  • Hibiscus or rose petals

  • Honey or vanilla

  • Pink salt (a pinch)

    Affirmation: “I am worthy of love, softness, and connection.”


🛡 Protection & Boundaries

  • Bay leaves

  • Garlic skins or cloves

  • Rosemary

  • Black peppercorns

  • A few pine needles (optional)

    Affirmation: “I am safe. My energy is shielded. My space is sacred.”


🌱 New Beginnings

  • Mint

  • Lemon balm

  • Basil leaves

  • A drizzle of honey

    Affirmation: “I step forward with fresh eyes and open heart.”


📝 Mini Ritual


Before you simmer, write your intention on a bay leaf and drop it into the pot. As the steam rises, visualize your energy filling your space. Let it be simple. Let it be yours.
